Several albums have made such a deep impression on me that I never fail to relive the moment I first heard them, whenever I revisit it after a long while.
The Clientele’s The Violet Hour is certainly one of those albums. I bought this album on a whim in 2005, and first listened to it during a rainy bus ride, on my Sony Discman. As soon as the first few notes started playing, I realised that this was perfect rainy-day-bus-ride music. :)
Here’s “House On Fire” from The Violet Hour, featuring shots of now demolished bits of London, London under construction, and a bad poker face.
Here’s me!
I never figured I’d make it onto a photo proper but I guess that’s the advantage of being one of the tallest guys in the moshpit.
You ROCK J!! Akasaka Blitz! Wooooo!!
(Thanks to my dearest iBon for spotting me… ^^)
Possibly THE best album I’ve bought this year is Boxer by The National. Mistaken For Strangers has certainly been on heavy rotation on my iPod. Awesome awesome stuff.
Grizzly Bear are the first band that has excited me in 2009 and we’re already in September! “Two Weeks” is the single which has a music video shot for it, but I think “While You Wait For The Others” is a stronger song and deserves it’s own video too. :)
Adorable little 5 year old boy singing “Folsom Prison Blues” by the venerable Johnny Cash.
I lost it when he sang
“When I was just a baby, my momma tole me son,
Always be a good boy, don’t ever pway wif guns,
But I shot a man in Weeno… just to watch him die…”
That’s just super cute, and probably THE BEST COVER of Johnny Cash EVAH!!
